As we get ready to leave on Friday morning, bright and early, we've heard news there is a forest fire in the Gila National Forest, which is included in our route. Fire Info can be found here. Currently, the fire is 0 % contained. Yikes!
The Forest Service Roads in this area will be closed as the conditions are unsafe and the fire personal need unfettered access to control the flames. So, it looks like we'll be planning our own route starting on day 3 as we leave Silver City and head toward Pie Town. Wish us Luck!
